Bao LeDe
Bao LeDe (b. 1959- ) came to US in 1989, and has been living and working in the Boston area for more than a decade. Expressionism has been always his genre. His paintings, in brilliant colors, are painted boldly and dynamically with gestures which are clearly the influenced by traditional Chinese calligraphy. Perhaps the distance between the United States and China make him think more about his own culture for he fell in love with ink painting, the beauty of black and white. He uses a lot of black in his paintings. Bao continues his experiments with collage from fifteen years ago, gluing rice paper on canvas layer by layer, then painting over the result. He is a painter full of an inner energy that emerges in every stroke. His new collage paintings are gentle, but quietly powerful.
